Current mood: thirsty
Category: School, College, Greek

I was in screenwriting class today and the professor said, “you must be free with your writing. We are now going to do a freewriting exercise.” He gave the instruction and everyone began writing at full speed. He said, “I don’t care what you write, but you must keep moving your pen without thinking until I say stop.”

Everyone in the class continued frantically moving their writing implements on white processed wood fiber for half a dozen minutes.

I expelled dozens of surreal non-sequiturs in an ever changing fountain of stupidity. I was ecstatic in my mental vomit.

He called, “Stop” and then collected all the pages. My last word was, “and.” As he began telling us, “what you write is unimportant, no one will ever read it,” he tore the first pages in half. He continued, “the only point is that you write freely with no judgment,” as he tore all the submissions into shreds, carelessly and methodically.

I was morphed into a psychotic prokaryotic cell as I nauseously came to grips with my loss. Part of my brain had been destroyed by the most surprisingist of exercises.

Goodnight.
